There is something almost magical about putting pen to paper. Unlike typing, writing by hand forces you to slow down and in that slowness, something shifts. Your thoughts untangle. Your feelings find their shape. And somehow, once they are written down, they become a little easier to let go of.
Journaling is one of my favourite slow living rituals. It helps me reflect, organise my mind and just… breathe. My journal is a mix of writing and scrapbooking: ticket stubs, little drawings, pressed flowers, random thoughts at 11pm. It has become one of the most personal things I own and I truly treasure it.
You don’t need a perfect setup or a specific time of day. You can journal on the train, before bed, on a solo date at your favourite coffee shop. The moment does not have to be perfect. It just has to be yours.
Journaling is also one of the best reasons to put your phone down. A little offline detox that actually feels good and it even makes you feel relieved once you put all the words down.

Where to start
Not sure where to start? Try one of these prompts:
- What am I grateful for right now, in this moment?
- What do I need more of in my life?
- If I could tell my younger self one thing, what would it be?
- What does growing towards the light mean to me today?
- What made me smile today, even if it was small?
Your journal is an intimate act of self care. Give it time. Give it space.
And a little tip: put a vibey playlist on in the background that you like. Makes the journal session even more fun to do 🙂
